The busy airport atmosphere and a passion for great customer service has seen Julie
Rowe celebrate 16 years at Rotorua Airport as Terminal Services and Finance Manager.
A long-time valuable member of our team, Julie has embraced numerous changes over the
years, including expanding her finance role to looking after the terminal and customer
service as well.
“Throughout my time at the Airport there have been about eight CEOs, so there has been
a lot of change. One that stands out was transitioning to being an international airport. That
was exciting to be part of.”
Julie’s positive attitude shines through in her excellent customer service.
“I personally don’t like flying and know many people don’t, so I remind the team that people
often turn up to the airport feeling anxious and agitated, and it’s our job to reassure them. I
always say if you make someone smile, you’ve done your job right.”
Julie says another highlight in her 16 years was when Prince Harry and Meghan arrived at
the Airport in 2018, as part of their 16-day royal tour of the South Pacific.
“It’s not often you get to experience something like that. I was front line when they arrived,
and there was an exciting buzz about the airport that day.”
While there have been exciting moments, Julie says a clear reason she has stayed is the
great team she works with.
“I think what I like most about the job is the people - I have a great relationship with the
team and the tenants at the airport.”
