As the gate way to the Bay of Plenty Region, for both business and tourism purposes, the Rotorua Airport is a business hub for many local tourist attractions and service functions, and acts as a pivotal component in the infrastructure of our local economy.
On behalf of the Rotorua Airport we are now recruiting for an experienced and capable Operations Manager to lead a team of established and dedicated safety professionals and essentially take accountability for Fire, Safety and Security aspects of the Airport operations. We are looking for an experienced leader who demonstrates enthusiasm and pride in what they do, with the ability to lead and develop a high performing team to work alongside them.
The Operations team performs a wide variety of tasks, including runway inspections, general ground, building and vehicle maintenance, and reporting functions to ensure that the airport is operated and maintained in accordance with Airport standards and Civil Aviation Authority regulations. This is an exciting and diverse opportunity for the right individual to be part of a progressive and growing organisation that offers opportunity for ongoing development.
Key accountabilities include;
- Assisting in the design and implementation of the Rotorua Airports Safety Management System
- Compliance with the Rotorua Airports Operational Exposition and Operating Framework
- Management of the Operations team roster
- Liaison and accountability with all relevant organisations to ensure compliance is met and safety is pro-actively improved
- Emergency and Operational planning
- Operations including ground, vehicle, building and aerodrome operational surface areas
- Leadership of the Fire & Operations team
This is a key role on the senior management team and will lead and drive initiatives across the Airport and develop capability within. It is an exciting opportunity to add lasting value to a community asset.
The successful candidate will be a NZ qualified Firefighter with the appropriate medical and fitness certification. Have demonstrated management attributes and have strong leadership experience. Experience within an Airport environment would be advantageous but is not an essential requirement. Our ideal candidate will be safety and security focussed, be highly organised and disciplined, with the ability to analyse systems and procedures in order to streamline and add efficiencies. You’ll be innovative, and results focussed with effective communication skills and an inspiring leadership style. This is a busy role and we require a candidate who thrives on getting the job done, planning and prioritising with an open and transparent communication style.
