Rotorua Regional Airport (RRA) and RotoruaNZ are each searching for a candidate to sit as an observer on their Board of Directors. This is an excellent opportunity for two individuals that are looking for further self-development and exposure to a Council Controlled Organisation (CCO) Board.
This opportunity provides first-hand exposure to the role of a Board, its decision making and operations, as well as training and mentorship designed to provide the observer with essential skills that they can carry through to their own business.
Observers will learn about:
· The issues confronting the organisation.
· The fundamental principles of the work and function of boards.
· The roles and responsibilities of board members.
· Financial processes.
· Other governance priorities.
One of the 2024 Board Observers of RRA have expressed how they found their experience being part of a CCO Board:
“Serving as a board observer for Rotorua Airport over the past year has been a transformative experience for my professional growth. The board of directors were greatly knowledgeable and their expertise enriched my learning. Observing their strategic decision-making processes, being part of high-level discussions, and understanding the intricacies of airport governance provided me with valuable insights that I can apply in my current work and governance roles. This experience has not only broadened my perspective but also equipped me with the tools to navigate complex professional environments with greater confidence.”- 2024 RRA Board Observer
Starting in November, Observers will participate for 12 months in all aspects of Board work but will have no voting rights nor form part of a quorum of the Board meeting.

· Are Rotorua based.

· Have no or minimal board experience.
